Social Counselling

Between studying and student life, it's not always easy to keep track of everything. Our social counsellors Helga Kessler and Ronald Friedrich can often help before problems arise. But even in more difficult situations, they are happy to be your first point of contact and offer help in finding solutions. You can make an appointment via our online booking tool. Of course, the consultations are absolutely confidential and free of charge for students.

You can come to the social councelling for advice on the following topics:

  • Financing your studies
  • Work and study
  • Counselling and help in financial emergencies (emergency fund)
  • Social benefits
  • Health insurance
  • Assistance for international students
  • Support in special situations (e.g. pregnancy)
  • Studying with a child
  • Assistance for students with disabilities or chronic illnesses
  • general questions before starting a course of study or during the transition from study to work

How to reach us for an appointment

For personal counselling sessions on site, py phone or video, please make an appointment in advance using our online booking tool.

If you have any questions, please call  +49 711 4470-1059 or -1057. You can currently reach our social counselling service by phone from Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Friday from 9 a.m. to noon.

Video counselling

If you wish, you can have a video consultation. We use the data protection-compliant video tool from RED medical for this. Technical requirements and information on data protection can be found in the FAQ of the RED Medical video tool.

Book appointment online

Simply book your consultation appointment using our booking tool. If there is no suitable date available, please check back in a few days. We regularly switch on new dates!

New: Counselling at your university

Our social counselling service regularly comes to your university and advises you in open consultation hours. Counselling is confidential and free of charge. Just drop by – no need to register. You can find out when we are at which university on our events page!

ONLINE INFORMATION LECTURES

At our online information lectures you will receive valuable tips and advice on selected topics. The lectures are held in German.

Participation is free of charge. However, it is necessary to register via our online booking tool so that we can send you the access data! For the lectures we use the data protection compliant programme Alfaview. Just follow the link we will send you with the access data.

Registration takes place via our appointment booking tool cituro and is activated 6 weeks before the event. Please note: The lectures are held in German.

Frequently asked questions

Students who are enrolled at one of the 15 universities we support in Stuttgart, Ludwigsburg, Esslingen, Göppingen and Horb can take advantage of the social counselling free of charge.

We also advise prospective students who would like to find out, for example, about the possibilities of financing their studies or our semester contribution scholarship.

Yes, that is possible. In our appointment booking tool, you can book telephone counselling appointments from Monday to Friday – both detailed counselling appointments and short consultations at 2 pm. 

Please make an appointment for a personal consultation in advance online or by phone. You can find the contact details at the bottom of this website. The counselling sessions take place in Stuttgart-Mitte in the administration building of the Studierendenwerk or by telephone or video consultation.

You will usually receive an appointment within 14 days.

There is no limit. You can take advantage of our social counselling as often as you need. Together we will find a solution.
